New Article in Inaugural Issue of ACM Transactions on Computing for Healthcare

Jin et al. introduce CarePre, a machine learning system for clinical decision assistance.

An article titled CarePre: An Intelligent Clinical Decision Assistance System was published in the inaugural issue of ACM’s newest journal, ACM Transactions on Computing for Healthcare. The article from lead author Zhuochen Jin includes collaborators from around the globe—including the VACLab’s David Gotz–representing Tongji University, East China Normal University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Georgia Tech.

The article describes CarePre, an intelligent clinical decision assistance system. The system extends a state-of-the-art deep learning model to predict upcoming diagnosis events for a focal patient based on his or her historical medical records. The system includes an interactive framework together with intuitive visualizations designed to support diagnosis, treatment outcome analysis, and the interpretation of the analysis results.
