OHDSI Honors VACLab-er Natthawut ‘Max’ Adulyanukosol with 2024 Titan Award

The Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) recognized Adulyanukosol’s contributions with the Titan Award for Community in recognition of his efforts in Thailand and beyond.

The Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (or OHDSI, pronounced “Odyssey”) program is a community-driven collaborative focused on realizing value from the large-scale analysis of health data through the development of open-source tools and infrastructure. OHDSI is comprised of international network of scientists and engineers which is led through a coordinating center at Columbia University.

OHDSI hosts an annual Global Symposium to gather members of the community to share research, discuss advances within the OHDSI platform, brainstorm new ideas, and build community. In addition, the OHDSI organization recognizes a select few individuals each year with its Titan awards. The awards were introduced in 2018 and have been given out each year since. You can learn more about the Titan awards on the OHDSI website.

This year’s list of Titan Award honorees includes the VACLab’s own Natthawut ‘Max’ Adulyanukosol! Max was honored with the 2024 Titan Award for Commuinity in recognition of his efforts to spread awareness and support the adoption of OHDSI throughout Thailand and the broader region. Contratulations, Max!

In addition to his work as a PhD student at UNC and the VACLab, Max leads a great team at Siriraj Hospital where they have been building an OHDSI ecosystem to advance a variety of health analytics projects. Related to those efforts, Max and his team have been working to spread OHDSI across the region. Max would be the first to point out that the Titan Aaward is reflective of the contributions of his many collaborators and not an individual contribution. That’s surely true, and congratulations to everyone that has worked with Max on these efforts.

That said, we also know first-hand that Max is a great leader and dedicated teammate. The Tital Award is well-deserved honor in recognition of his dedication and passion for advancing informatics solutions that impact human health. Congratulations again, Max!

You can read some of Max’s own reflections about the award on his personal website.
